Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, has released a new short film titled Back to the Beach featuring Vevo DSCVR Artist of the Year Gigi Perez. The honor arrives alongside Vevo’s annual DSCVR Artists to Watch list, which highlights breakout talent across genres. The film follows her recent bespoke live performances of “Fable” and “Sugar Water,” two standout tracks from her album At the Beach, In Every Life. Earlier this year, Perez also teamed up with Vevo for DSCVR sessions of “Fable” and “Sailor Song.”
Back to the Beach begins at Village Music Cafe in Palm Beach, the venue where Perez first developed her voice and confidence as an artist. She recalls stumbling upon an open mic there, a moment that shifted everything. “One day, I drove by the mall and noticed that there was an open mic,” she said. “Ever since that day I walked through the doors, the owners, Steven and Donna, took me in as their own kid, their musical child.” She credits the cafe and the people behind it for giving her a space to grow. The film then connects those early memories to the scale of her career today. In 2025, she is scheduled to perform 65 shows for more than 700,000 fans.
Perez also reflects on the challenges she faced early in her career. She describes those first years as a constant struggle. “It felt like every day you opened a door and behind it was a little fist that punched you in the face,” she said. “But this year was different. Things started to flow in a way that I have never experienced before. I am just so grateful.”
Vevo’s SVP of Content, Programming and Marketing, JP Evangelista, praised her rise. “Gigi Perez is the definition of what it means to be an artist on the rise,” he said. He highlighted her bold yet vulnerable sound, honest songwriting, and commanding stage presence. Evangelista added that she represents the best of the new generation of global talent. “Fearless, driven, and completely themselves. The entire team is proud of the strides she has already made, and we are thrilled to support her at such a pivotal moment in her career.”
