Today, Tampa Bay rapper JG shares the music video to his introspective track “Public Relations.” The self-directed clip shows JG on a rooftop overlooking Los Angeles while he delivers melodic bars reflecting on a relationship with a girlfriend. The track is the first official release setting the tone for JG’s forthcoming full-length Public Relations 2releasing via independent label The Leftovers.

“At this point I only care about making music that makes me happy,” explains JG. “I hope you appreciate the honesty and connect with what I’m saying in these songs. If my music can help brighten just one person’s day then I’m doing my job.”

ABOUT JG:
Tampa, Florida born artist JG delivers a melodic sound and distinct voice with emotionally driven lyrics about everyday life struggles. His music is inspired by artists like J.Cole, Kanye West and Drake. This Fall, he’ll release his album Public Relations 2 via independent label The Leftovers. The album includes features with Gusto Leimert, Young Joe, Eighty K, Wifisfuneral and production by Cam Wallace who has worked with artists Chris Brown and Ciara.

JG grew up in a musical family, starting to play the drums at age 4. His uncle also played in a southern rock/blues band called Framed. It was DMX’s “Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood” album that made a huge impression after his older brother played it for him. By age 11, JG was writing his own raps. During his freshman year in high school, he began posting music on Myspace and catching the attention of his classmates. His early raps reflected homelife. “I was going through a lot of stuff with my dad being in and out of prison and drugs, and I didn’t get along with my step dad. He was an alcoholic,” he reflects. “Music was my therapy.”

In 2017, he released his full-length debut 3 Feet From Gold featuring stand-out cut “My Side” that landed on Vevo’s “dscvr Hip-Hop” and “New Hip-Hop” playlists and received over 300K plays on the official music video. The project also featured “Lies” with Cash Money rapper Caskey that gained over 437K views. And the “slapper” “Bird In LA” with Rich The Kid that landed on tastemaker blog Daily Chiefers and gained over 1 Million Plays on its official music video via WorldStarHipHop. JG has performed both at music festivals and alongside artists such as Juice Wrld, PnBRock, Trippie Redd, Chief Keef, Soulja Boy and Lil Tracy.

“I’m relatable to regular kids who maybe don’t have everything that the kids down the street have,” explains JG. “I don’t want to be perceived as, Oh, I’m a rapper, so I got to wear big ass chains, rock a grill and flash stacks of money. I just want to be known as dope MC that connects with the everyday kid that might be going through something and now knows that he ain’t alone.”
