E-40 – “Made This Way” ft. Tee Grizzley & Rod Wave
Nearing his fourth decade as a rap star, E-40 has always kept his ear to the soil, finding the best and brightest in young talent. Recruiting two young and talented out-of-towners to a boxing gym in the Bay Area, 40 shares “Made This Way,” a new music video. Built around a triumphant horn fanfare that evokes Bill Conti’s uplifting score for Rocky, “Made This Way” is a fast-paced anthem about staying true to your roots. The track features a breakneck verse from Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley, who goes in over piano arpeggios that evoke his city’s signature sound, and a sweetly-sung hook from gruff-voiced Alamo Records signee Rod Wave. In the video, the three emcees post-up at a boxing gym, counting cash and watching bouts between Bay Area youngsters like Nef The Pharaoh, OMB Peezy, and ShooterGang Kony, and a match between two scantily-clad combatants. “Made This Way” is a highlight from Practice Makes Paper, Forty Water’s 29th studio album, released last week.
Spanning 26 tracks that explore every corner of the rapper’s headspace, Practice Makes Paper is a testament to 40 Water’s need to succeed and dedication to his craft, which drives his prolific and high-quality output. The new album is enhanced by countless guest appearances, ranging from longtime collaborators and Bay Area OGs to some of the hottest names in rap, proving the Counselor’s impressive influence and unmatched longevity in the rap game. The album boasts hit posse cut “Chase The Money,” which has over 14 million views on YouTube and 4 million streams on Spotify. Featuring appearances from Quavo, ScHoolboy Q, Roddy Ricch, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, Fabolous, Method Man, Redman, A$AP Ferg, Scarface, Tee Grizzley, G-Eazy, Anthony Hamilton, K-Ci, B-Legit, Boosie Badazz, Sada Baby, Payroll Giovanni, P-Lo, Iamsu!, and many, many more, Practice Makes Paper hits stores via Sick Wid It Records.
